This review is based solely on my personal experience, direct communications, and recollection of events between myself and Brett LeMaire of Knothead Tree and Lawn Care. It reflects my opinions and is intended to provide a truthful account of my perspective. Others may have different experiences, and I encourage them to form their own judgments.
I have known Brett LeMaire for over 16 years and was optimistic when he reached out in October 2023 about a few potential mastication jobs. As always, I approached the opportunity with integrity and professionalism.
I provided three detailed estimates on October 17 for properties on Dawson Road in Sedalia, and began the work promptly on October 18. Over the next several weeks, I made four separate return visits to complete the work, each time waiving my customary mobilization fee as a professional courtesy. Our work plan was impacted by seasonal snowfall, which made it clear that the job would require a spring return to finalize cleanup work—something I communicated and Brett acknowledged.
In May 2024, I resumed work as planned, only to learn from a homeowner that Brett had invoiced and received full payment for all three properties, even though I had not received any payment for services rendered. When I contacted Brett for clarification, I was met not with constructive communication but with a voicemail claiming I owed him money, along with unsubstantiated statements about the quality of work and alleged damages, neither of which had ever been raised or documented during or immediately after the job.
I take great pride in my work and reputation. In this case, despite my ongoing communication and reasonable efforts, I was never paid for work completed. I regret how this partnership concluded and sincerely hope Brett reflects on how professional relationships should be handled moving forward.
